What this job costs and how it is agreed
A starting figure, not a quote. What moves it is the model, how the unit is built in and which part it needs — settled after the on-site diagnostic.

The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.

01
Start at the filter and the supply
A blocked filter, a half-open shut-off valve or a kinked line stops ice as completely as a broken part, and all three are quick.
-
02
Give it time if it is new
From switch-on it can take a day to make ice and three days to reach full production. That is documented, not an excuse.
-
03
Fill or harvest
Water not arriving and ice not releasing are two different repairs. The bin sensor and the ice shovel left in the bin are both real causes of "it stopped making ice".
-
04
Reset the filter reminder
A new filter does not clear the symbol on its own — LIGHT/FILTER or SUPER COOL held with ICE for three seconds does it.

Ice maker and water repair cost
What it costs when there is no ice or no water — and the note that a flashing filter symbol is three seconds on two buttons rather than a repair.
- National range: repair $100–$225, replace $250–$600
- The filter reset is free and it is often the whole answer
- Small hollow cubes are supply, not the ice maker

Inside the freezer column Thermador ice maker repair in Miami
There is no standalone ice machine on this brand. The ice maker is a module inside a freezer column, fed by a water line run through the cabinetry — so this page is about that module and the water reaching it, not about an undercounter machine behind a bar.
- No ice at all, in a freezer that is holding temperature
- Hollow, small or cloudy cubes from a full mold
- Ice that has taken on a taste or a smell
-
Freedom columns · French door · Under-counter Thermador refrigerator repair in Miami
A Freedom column is one cabinet holding one temperature — all refrigerator, no freezer in it — usually installed beside a freezer column as a matched pair behind panels that look like joinery. That makes the diagnosis cleaner and the access harder.
- Not holding temperature
- Frost or condensation inside the cabinet
- A door that no longer seals against its panel

About Thermador ice maker and water repair
The cheap causes come first because they are the common ones
Filter, supply, pressure, freezer temperature, a jammed cube in the level arm, and the ice shovel left sitting in the bin. Every one of those is documented by the manufacturer as a cause of poor ice production, and every one is free to check. The parts come after them, not before.
The reminder that is not a failure
The flashing filter symbol is a counter, not a measurement, and on many models it keeps flashing after a new filter until it is reset by hand. It is one of the few things on this site that is genuinely finished in a minute — so it is written out here rather than kept as a reason to call.
What decides the figure
Whether it is the fill side — valve and line — or the ice maker assembly itself, which is the more expensive half.

Questions about thermador ice maker and water repair
My water filter symbol keeps flashing after I changed the filter.
Check the filter is fully rotated so the lines on the cap align with the compartment, then hold LIGHT/FILTER — or SUPER COOL — together with ICE for three seconds. On many models the reminder is a counter that has to be told the filter is new.
It makes ice, just not enough.
Look at three things first: an ice cube jammed in the level arm, the ice shovel left in the bin so the sensor cannot see the level, and the freezer temperature. Those account for most "not enough ice" calls and none of them is a repair.
How much ice should it make?
The manufacturer's own figure is 70 to 120 cubes in 24 hours once the cabinet is cold, with up to 72 hours from switch-on for full production. If yours is well under that with the supply healthy, then it is worth a visit.
