Thermador control board replacement

A panel that does not respond, a board that fails its own memory check, or two boards that have stopped talking to each other. Tested before it is replaced, because boards are the most over-diagnosed part in this trade.

On the visit

How this visit actually goes

The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.

  1. 01

    Establish it is the board

A dead panel is a supply problem as often as an electronics problem. Power at the appliance, then the connections, then the board — in that order, and not the other way round.

  2. 02

Read what it says about itself

These boards test their own memory at start-up and publish the result: E009 and E010 for the user interface, E309 and E310 for the control module. That narrows it to one of the two rather than "the electronics".

  3. 03

    Check they are talking

E005 is not a broken board at all — it is the two boards having lost contact, and a connector left unseated after earlier work is a real cause.

  4. 04

    Set the option code

A replacement board has to be told which model it belongs to, from the data plate. Skip it and the oven reports E000 and will not run — which looks exactly like a bad new part.

Applies to

  • An open dishwasher loaded with clean crockery and mugs, standing open in a home kitchen
    Masterpiece · Star-Sapphire · Crystal Dry

    Thermador dishwasher repair in Miami

Quiet, panel-ready, and dried by a mineral chamber rather than a heating element. Two of the commonest complaints about these machines are the design working exactly as intended; the third is a filter nobody has taken out in a year.

    • Water standing in the tub after a cycle
    • Plastics coming out wet
    • The leak protection tripping and the machine refusing to run
    Dishwasher repair
  • A black double wall oven built into a wood column, the lower door standing open
    Masterpiece · Professional · Steam · Speed

Thermador wall oven repair in Miami

Built in at eye level, often two cavities in one cabinet, and increasingly one of the two is a steam oven with a water circuit of its own. "The oven is broken" almost always means one cavity of the pair, and which one narrows the job considerably.

    • Not heating or not holding temperature
    • The touch panel unresponsive after a long cycle
    • The door locked after a self-clean
    Oven repair
  • A stainless professional-style gas range with heavy cast-iron grates, set between white cabinets under a hood
    Professional · 30" 36" 48" 60"

    Thermador range repair in Miami

The appliance the brand is built around. A Professional range is two machines sharing a cabinet — a cooktop with star burners or an induction surface on top, and an oven underneath — and the two fail in completely different ways. Knowing which half you are describing shortens the visit before anybody arrives.

    • A burner that clicks and will not light
    • The oven not reaching or holding temperature
    • The griddle heating unevenly across the plate
    Range repair
  • Two pans simmering on a black induction cooktop set into a wooden island
Freedom Induction · Masterpiece · Star burner

    Thermador cooktop repair in Miami

Freedom induction is this brand's own idea: one continuous glass surface that finds the pans rather than four printed rings to line them up with. It changes what goes wrong and what the complaint sounds like — most of what we are called out for on these is the surface protecting itself, and it is usually right to.

    • A zone switching itself off mid-cook
    • The surface not recognizing a pan
    • Controls locked or answering a wet cloth
    Cooktop repair
  • A refrigerator standing open, both sides stocked with produce, dairy and cold cuts
    Freedom columns · French door · Under-counter

    Thermador refrigerator repair in Miami

A Freedom column is one cabinet holding one temperature — all refrigerator, no freezer in it — usually installed beside a freezer column as a matched pair behind panels that look like joinery. That makes the diagnosis cleaner and the access harder.

    • Not holding temperature
    • Frost or condensation inside the cabinet
    • A door that no longer seals against its panel

About Thermador control board replacement

Two boards, and they are not the same board

This equipment has a user interface — the panel you touch — and a control module, which is what actually switches elements and motors. They talk to each other, and the manufacturer publishes separate conditions for each: memory checks, temperature sensors on the boards themselves, and a communication error between them. Knowing which one is reporting is the difference between one part and two.

The step that gets missed

A replacement control module arrives generic and has to be set to the model it is going into, using the option code from the data plate. Without it the appliance reports a mismatched module and refuses to run. It is a two-minute step in service mode and it turns a "the new board is faulty" callback into a finished job.

What decides the figure

Which board, and what is in front of it. A dishwasher board behind a cabinet panel and an oven control module behind a professional trim are different amounts of time for the same soldered rectangle.

Questions about thermador control board replacement

How do I know it is really the board?

Because it was tested rather than assumed. Boards are the most over-diagnosed part in appliance repair: a dead panel is often supply, a connector or a stuck key. On this make several conditions name the board explicitly, which makes the honest answer easier to reach.

My oven shows E000 after a repair.

That is the mismatched-module condition: a new board that has not been given its option code, read off the data plate. It is a setting rather than a part, and it is the whole fix.

Is a board worth replacing on an older appliance?

On a built-in oven or a panelled column, usually — the alternative is a replacement appliance plus cabinetry work. On a machine already needing other parts, we will tell you where the line is.
